Assalamu alaykum warahmatullah,

My name is Faheem, and I am honored to be facilitating the Khatt Al-Arabiy (Arabic Calligraphy) course for the students of Az-Zahid Holistic Academy.

As a dedicated student and practitioner of Arabic calligraphy, I have had the privilege of learning from esteemed teachers across different calligraphic traditions. My journey began during my Arabic studies in Syria, where I trained under Ustadh Adham Faadi Al-Ja’fari, a master of Naskh and Thuluth scripts who received his Ijazah from the renowned Turkish calligrapher, Al-Khattaat Hassan Celebi. Over the years, I have continued to refine my skills under various teachers and remain committed to both learning and teaching this sacred art.

Handwriting is more than just a skill—it plays a crucial role in a child’s cognitive development. Studies have shown that learning to write by hand enhances fine motor skills, concentration, and memory retention. This is why Az-Zahid Holistic Academy has invited me to introduce your children to the beautiful art of Arabic calligraphy and writing.

This course is designed specifically for children aged 4 to 12, with age-appropriate lessons that nurture both their creativity and appreciation for Arabic script. Our primary focus will be the Ruq’ah script, a simple and elegant style that lays a strong foundation for future calligraphy studies. Younger learners will begin by recognizing letter shapes and developing fine motor control, while older students will gradually learn how to join letters and write words and sentences.

Beyond the artistic benefits, Arabic calligraphy holds deep spiritual significance. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) taught us to strive for excellence in all things, and he emphasized the importance of the Qalam (pen) as a symbol of knowledge and its preservation. Sayyiduna Ali (RA) advised:

“Teach your children to write, for it is among the most important matters and brings great joy.”

Through this course, your child will not only develop a beautiful handwriting style but also gain a deeper connection to the Arabic language and its rich heritage.

All necessary materials—including bamboo qalams, coated paper, and water-based inks—will be provided as part of the registration cost and monthly fees, ensuring that each student has the proper tools to fully engage in their learning experience.

I encourage you to enroll your child in this unique learning experience—one that blends artistry, history, and the timeless tradition of Arabic writing.
